Drag rhythmic values into up to 4 beat blocks per line to build a drum groove, or click a tile then click a block to place it — handy on a trackpad.
A polyrhythm is two different pulses played at once — three evenly spaced notes against two, four against three, five against four. They're everywhere in West African drumming and the music that grew from it, where a 12/8 bell can be felt in fours, threes and twos at the same time.
Each beat here plays the two pulses on two drums (the floor conga on the main pulse, the mid conga on the other) so you can hear how they line up and drift apart. Practice by clapping one part and saying the other, then swap.
Want to play along, or build a song from these? Open them in Drum Loops → Each beat becomes a loop you can edit, with fills, a count-in and a song.
